Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship
Women make up nearly 50 percent of the global workforce; however, gender equality is not yet a reality in senior management and corporate boardrooms around the world. According to a 2014 Catalyst Census , women hold only 4.2 percent of the CEO positions and 19.2 percent of board seats at S&P 500 companies. To encourage more women to pursue education and careers in business, Zonta International established the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Scholarships are award at three levels: Club (the CV club typically awards 3 to 6 $1,000 scholarships each year), District (D9 typically awards # $1,000 scholarships annually), International (12 scholarships of US$7,000 each are awarded annually).
Women of any age, pursuing an accredited business or business-related program who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field, are eligible and encouraged to apply. For a full list of the eligibility and application requirements, and to download an application, click here: Jane Klausman Scholarship
Applications are accepted at the Club-level only. The ZontaCV club deadline has been extended to May 1st.
Young Women in Public Affairs Award
In 1995 the global average proportion of women in parliament was just 11 percent. Today, women hold 22.7 percent of seats in the world’s national parliaments as of 1 June 2016. Although this figure has doubled in the last 21 years, many barriers remain to women’s political participation and gender parity in political representation across the globe. Recognizing that to bring about sustainable changes that benefit all of humanity, women must have equal participation in the decision-making process, Zonta International established the Young Women in Public Affairs Award in 1990.
The Award recognizes young women, ages 16-19, who demonstrate superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life. Scholarships are award at three levels: Club, District ($1,000 each), and International (ten $4,000 awards). For a full list of the eligibility and application requirements, and to download an application, click here: Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship
Applications are accepted at the Club-level only. The ZontaCV club deadline has been extended to March 6th (in order to be considered for District level as well) or May 1st (for Club scholarship only).
Women Helping Women Scholarship
This Club-only scholarship is awarded to women who want to pursue higher education (post grade 12) after a leave of absence. Typically this award is given to “stay-at-home” women (e.g. raising children) to assist them with education/training in order to re-enter the workforce or improve their current limited job status. Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case based on need and circumstance.
Applications are accepted year-round at the Club-level only.
Amelia Earhart Fellowship
According to Women in Aerospace, in 2010, roughly 10 percent of the aerospace industry was made up of women. While the number has slowly increased, there must be reinforcements behind each step forward. To assist the future of women in this field and other aerospace-related sciences and engineering, Zonta International established the Amelia Earhart Fellowship in 1938 in honor of legendary pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. Today, the Fellowship of US$10,000 is awarded annually to 35 talented women, pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering around the globe. The award may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.
Women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree, who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering, are eligible and encouraged to apply.
